About the Borderless Foundation
Borderless Foundation is a ‘New Zealand Trust with Charitable Purpose’.
The purpose of the Foundation is to ensure an ongoing legacy for Borderless Productions Ltd. film and media projects that engage its viewers to take action. The stories of people profiled in its films and the issues underlying these stories have continuity beyond the film, which we hope will compel, motivate and ignite a human connection that is relevant to many people in many cultures.
The mission of the Foundation is to leverage media projects to create awareness and motivate a take action response for creating positive change in the world through the financial support of grassroots initiatives… to individuals via fellowship programs, organisations and projects.
The Foundation operates as a Not-For-Profit organisation receiving proceeds from Borderless Productions' film sales and fundraising activity in order to fulfill the Foundation’s mission. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees and senior management function on a voluntary basis.
‘A Grandmother's Tribe Fund’ – held in trust by the Borderless Foundation
‘A Grandmother’s Tribe’ was created as a for-purpose film to raise awareness and funds for the African grandmother situation represented in the documentary. The film has been financed entirely through international sponsorships of individuals and organizations. Proceeds from the distribution of the film will be designated to grassroots initiatives for grandmothers of Sub-Saharan Africa.
The concept of a Grassroots Campaign began at the outset of the film’s initial development. That initiative is now ready to take flight! The film’s website, www.agrandmotherstribe.com, has been key to the growing momentum so far.
The purpose of this campaign is to motivate individuals and organizations, with a message of hope, to “take action” and to directly link those intentions with organizations and projects that create a direct difference in the lives of African grandmother families.
Borderless Filmmakers recently hosted an online film and social enterprise dialogue on the “Social Edge”...
Social Edge is a website dedicated to social entrepreneurship, spearheaded by Jeff Skoll, of eBay fame, and his Skoll Foundation initiative.
